What is PPC, Paid Search and SEM? Are they the same thing?PPC (Pay-Per-Click), Paid Search, and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) are related but not identical terms. At Digital Pace, when we refer to PPC, we specifically mean Paid Search—ads that appear on search engines like Google or Bing, although you might hear other agencies sometime use PPC more broadly where similar Pay Per Click models are used. SEM, on the other hand, is a wider term that includes both Paid Search (PPC) and organic search strategies (like SEO). In short, Paid Search (PPC) is a fast and effective way to drive traffic to your website by targeting users actively searching for your products or services.
-
Do I need to do PPC if my SEO is already optimised?Even with well-optimised SEO, PPC can still be a valuable addition to your marketing strategy. While SEO helps you rank organically over time, PPC provides instant visibility, especially for competitive keywords where organic results alone may not suffice. Even if you are ranking top for generic keywords, you could still be missing out on the top paid placements in the search engine, where you may be missing incremental traffic. PPC also allows you to: Target specific audiences with precision. Test new keywords and strategies quickly. Promote time-sensitive offers or events. Gain valuable insights from ad performance data that can complement your SEO efforts. In short, PPC and SEO work best together, creating a balanced approach to drive both immediate and long-term results.
